Shakespeare’s R & Juk tour 2004

After Baz Luhrmann’s acclaimed film version of Romeo and Juliet, this production reclaims it for the stage. This critically acclaimed play transferred to the West End after taking New York and the Bath Shakespeare Festival by storm, winning a number of awards. Following the huge acclaim, the production toured the UK in 2004.

The production transfers the action from Verona to a strict catholic boy’s school. Four boys discover a copy of the banned Romeo and Juliet play and start to secretly act out the story. Four male actors play all of the characters in the play as The Bard triggers their sexual awakening and inspires them to rebel against their oppressive school.
